Baptism

water baptism

Christ gave the Church two visible symbols (called “ordinances”) as reminders of His death. These two ordinances are: Baptism and Communion. Regarding baptism, Family Life Church believes that you should be baptized:

  1. To Follow The Example Set By Christ. (Mark 1:9)
  2. Because Christ Commanded It. (Matthew 28:19-20)
  3. It Demonstrates That I Really Am A Believer. (Acts 18:8)

Baptism can be thought of in this way:

  1. It Illustrates Christ’s Death and Resurrection. (1st Corinthians 15:3-4)
  2. It Illustrates My New Life as a Christian. (Romans 6:4)

“Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – it shows that you already believe. It is like a wedding ring – it’s the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart.” – Pastor Dale
