How it all started...
Family Life Church began the last weekend of June in 1994 with the vision to the reach the lost and unchurched in the Amarillo community. Pastor Dale Travis and 54 others gathered together in an old furniture store, excited to see how God would use our new church. After six months in the furniture store, God procured a new facility in the Cinema at Western Plaza Shopping Center. During the following six years, Family Life Church numbers grew to 200 active members. In early 2000, Western Plaza was sold and the church was informed that it needed to find a new location. Prayers began for God to lead in a search for new facilities. Soon, 7 acres of land was offered by a local patron who believed in the mission of FLC.
Expanding the vision...
From those early days, God has grown FLC from 200 members to over 500 active members. The church now has 2 weekend services along with our youth services on Wednesday evenings, and God has also built up a thriving small groups ministry with over 20 small groups that meet weekly. In January 2016, Pastor Dale stepped down and Pastor Robbie Ashlock became the Lead Pastor. In early May of 2016, Pastor Dale Travis was called home to be with the Lord. Since then, Pastor Robbie and the staff have been carrying on the vision that God gave Pastor Dale so many years ago. Lives have been changed and we praise God for the work He has done at Family Life. We also look forward to what He will do in the future!
Where we are headed...
We live in a "Post-Christian" culture. This means that many identify as religiously "agnostic" or "atheist." We can no longer expect people in our culture to seek out the Church, so we must go where they are! This, in turn, means that Family Life Church has moved towards a commitment to living on mission, in our communities, at work, with our families, at school, and in our leisure time. Everything we do is now driven by a desire to point people towards Jesus, our Savior and living hope! We would love for you to join us in this mission!
Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 9:00 am and 10:30 am.
